Ahhhhhh a mighty hello from the seven seas!
As you may have guessed, we did Pirate things. A quick note before I talk about what we did tonight, some seriously great jobs on costuming tonight. We had some brilliant pirates. Fantastic!

As previously mentioned we did a lot of pirating tonight. First was my favourite game that only goes by the name of The Boat Game. A whole load of Scouts running across the hall in a bid to not to be the last one doing well anything I call whether that be to run to Forward, Aft, Port, Starboard or perform one of many actions including hitting the deck!
After, Bosun had prepared 4 bases of various team building activities all with a pirate theme.
The first was a game of Trust, where someone in the participating patrol had to guide their team round a course. The second was a game of transporting water from a source to a place away from it. The catch on this one is the whole team had to ride a set of skis to travel on and could not touch the floor. The third game was with me and it was a team memory test to see whether patrols could remember 19 items between them. Finally, there was the minefield. This involved patrols allocating team members to cross a minefield. If they hit a square with a mine in it, that person loses a life and returns to the beginning. The patrol that did it with the least lives lost scored highest.
At the end of the evening, scores for each game were compared and patrols were given either 10, 5, 3 or 1 points depending on how they sized up against the other patrols. In the end, there could be only one winner…

And that would be Otters! Congratulations!
As you can see it was a close competition. Every patrol had their own strength and that was great!

Next week, it’s the AGM or Annual General Meeting. It’s a whole 79th Scout Group Event as we, as a charity, have to hold it by law and we have the honour of hosting. In saying that, the Scouts have to be down at the hall at 7pm to help in FULL UNIFORM. I repeat FULL UNIFORM. That’s Scout Shirt, Scout Trousers or Shorts and a necker with a woggle. The reason for this is that parents, you are invited as well. It starts at 8pm and there will be a barbecue for all the guests. This AGM could very easily be done in a boardroom but we like to spice it up a little.
Chieftain Scouts. We need to show the rest of the group that we are the best troop so please make sure that you have full uniform and bring your best behaviour along. If you’re new to the troop and don’t have a uniform yet, don’t worry too much.
So just to recap. Scouts at the hall for 7 please in best bib ‘n’ tucker with any parents would like to attend coming at 8!
Looking forward to seeing you all there!
Ellis
